One of the famous and respected figures in Russian football, former national team captain Andrey Arshavin, openly commented on the situation at CSKA. According to him, the tactical decisions of head coach Marko Nikolic regarding placing midfielder Miralem Pjanic in the central zone have negatively affected the performance of several players.
“I didn't expect any kind of ‘wow-effect’ from Pjanic. In any case, tactical sacrifices were made for him at CSKA. For example, Oblyakov's activity decreased, as if he disappeared from the field. Fayzullaev has completely vanished. Meaning, because of Pjanic's activity on the pitch, two important players have faded away. If he leaves the team, it wouldn't be a huge loss for CSKA,” – Arshavin assessed in an interview with journalist Alexander Ershov from "Championat".
Indeed, CSKA has been in good form lately. After 29 rounds, the team occupies third place in the Russian Premier League with 56 points. Additionally, in the recent match, the Uzbek star Abbosbek Fayzullaev was subbed on but failed to show his usual level of activity.
The editorial team of Zamin.uz will continue to closely monitor events at CSKA, particularly Fayzullaev’s activity in upcoming matches. How do you evaluate Arshavin’s criticism? Is Pjanic really unsuitable for the team? Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
