Major Changes in Roma: Shomurodov and Paredes Are Leaving
According to Italy’s famous newspaper "Corriere della Sport", the Roma club is following a clear strategic direction during the summer transfer window. The club management’s first priority is to reduce the squad and lighten the salary budget. In this way, they aim to use the connections between Gian Piero Gasperini, Frederico Massara, and Claudio Ranieri to create new opportunities for transfers.

Among the players expected to leave the club in the coming days, Eldor Shomurodov and Leandro Paredes are especially mentioned. Both are on the verge of finishing their careers in the team.

The club most interested in Eldor Shomurodov is Turkey’s "Istanbul Basaksehir". According to sources, the transfer fee may be around 7-8 million euros. This amount is important for Roma, as he was bought from Genoa for 17 million euros in 2021. If this deal goes through, the club will be able to partially recover his transfer price.

Shomurodov’s career in Rome started unexpectedly well. Under Claudio Ranieri, he became a regular starter and attracted the attention of foreign clubs. Also, as the leader of the Uzbekistan national team, he played an important role in qualifying for the World Cup. However, now Eldor’s last days in Rome may be numbered. Note that these are not the first transfer rumors about him: in winter he was close to moving to "Venezia", and in summer there were reports that he might go to the MLS club "Atlanta" in the USA.

Midfielder Leandro Paredes is also about to leave the team. The Argentine player, originally a Boca Juniors youth product, is now close to returning to that club. The key figure in this transfer is club president Juan Roman Riquelme. Riquelme personally made an offer to Paredes, and as a result, he agreed to a 3-year contract with a salary of 2 million euros per year.

According to information, there is a special clause in the current contract between Paredes and Roma allowing a move to the Buenos Aires club — it provides for a compensation of about 3 million euros. This way, the player can freely return to Boca.

Thus, Roma’s summer transfer policy seems to be focused on reshaping the squad and attracting young and effective players. The departure of Shomurodov and Paredes is considered one of the key steps in this process.
