A period of radical changes has begun at the famous English club Manchester City. As one of the most prestigious and successful teams in European football, the "Citizens" have started a serious overhaul of their roster ahead of the new season. According to the club's development strategy, experienced stars who formed the main force of the team in recent years are gradually giving way to talented and young footballers.
One of the most remarkable events in this process was that, during the winter transfer window, the club added several young players to its squad. Especially for Uzbek football fans, it was a proud moment when Abdukodir Khusanov joined Manchester City. This transfer not only enhanced the reputation of Uzbekistan but also of all Asian football on the European stage.
To replace aging and injury-prone defenders in the heart of the defense, City signed talented youngsters like Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Juma Ba in winter. In particular, because French club Lyon sold its leading player to Manchester City this summer, by contract, the French received the right to loan one player from the English side for free. While Lyon focused their attention mainly on Abdukodir Khusanov, coach Josep Guardiola approved keeping him at the club.
City head coach Guardiola plans to see Khusanov as a leader in the center of defense next season. As a result, the French turned to other candidates, but they also refused to leave their current teams. Only Juma Ba may move to Lyon.
Currently, competition in City's central defense line is at the highest level. In addition to youngsters like Khusanov, Reis, and Juma Ba, experienced and long-tested players like Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake, John Stones, and Manuel Akanji are also competing for a place in the starting lineup.
Abdukodir Khusanov's move to Manchester City was greeted with great excitement. To adapt to this new environment, he needed some patience and confidence. Since arriving, he has played nine matches in the Premier League, the national cup, and the Champions League, earning the trust of the coaches with his reliable defensive performances. He even scored a goal in one match, which was a pleasant surprise for the fans.
However, by April, Guardiola started giving him fewer opportunities. Later, it was revealed that under an agreement with Lens, if Khusanov appeared in 10 matches in half a season, City would have to pay an additional €5 million bonus. To maintain financial balance, the club considered this clause and rested the player for a while.
Now, City is aiming to make drastic changes in the squad next season, to bring in new blood and energy. The opening of opportunities for young footballers means greater competition and new possibilities. Khusanov can fully take advantage of this chance and become one of the brightest representatives of Uzbek football in Europe.
Fans are eagerly watching to see how Abdukodir Khusanov and other youngsters will perform at a high level next season. These changes at City will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the club’s development and lay the groundwork for a new chapter. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
