During his two seasons in Paris, Lionel Messi’s performances sparked many debates and discussions. When it comes to the legendary Argentine’s activities at Paris Saint-Germain, it’s not so much his modest statistics that are being discussed, but more his movements on the pitch.
In this regard, former PSG footballer and current sports commentator Jérôme Rothen made a very harsh statement. According to him, while Messi was at PSG, he would walk around the pitch but did not devote himself to the team as he might have loved to.

"I have watched almost all of Lionel Messi’s matches at the Parc des Princes. I have not missed a single one. Seeing his movement, or rather, his lack of it, I was disappointed. He would just walk on the field. He would stand lifeless on the pitch until the ball came to him," said Rothen.
"The lights are on, but there is no life"
"Of course, when the ball got to him, he became the most genius footballer in the world. There’s no doubt about that. But for PSG, he did not give his soul. He did not fight with his heart for the team. Everyone saw this; only some preferred to turn a blind eye," the former midfielder emphasized.
"Those who kept silent are not men"
The harshest statement came in the last sentence: "Those who were afraid to speak about it, those who tried to justify him, are not men. Whoever hides the truth does not have enough courage in themselves," Rothen sharply criticized.
