One of England’s leading clubs, Manchester City, signed a new player during the summer transfer window — Netherlands national team midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who shared his thoughts on the team’s training during pre-season camps. According to him, the “Cityzens” applied a unique style of preparation in this process.
— We often practiced ball control, which is very important for ensuring dominance on the pitch. Along with this, we thoroughly studied how to play against opponents who defend in a low block, — Reijnders said in his interview.
According to the midfielder, the training sessions focused not only on moving with the ball but also on how to react quickly in situations when it is lost. He said the team worked on improving their ability to win the ball back at the first opportunity, control the game’s rhythm, and keep the opponent under pressure.
Tijjani Reijnders is regarded as one of the most talented and promising graduates of the Dutch football school. He spent several seasons developing his skills in his home country, and from 2023 to 2025 he played for the famous Italian club AC Milan. During his career in Milan, he gained experience not only in the domestic league but also in European competitions.
The English club showed great trust in him by paying 55 million euros for his transfer. At the same time, the parties signed a long-term contract valid until June 30, 2030. This transfer is expected not only to strengthen Manchester City but also to expand its tactical possibilities in the coming years.
Reijnders himself described his new journey in England as a new chapter, expressing his intention to adapt quickly to the team and show his best performance on the field. According to him, playing for City brings him great responsibility and, at the same time, huge motivation.
