The main pillars of the Uzbekistan national team — Eldor Shomurodov and the young, talented forward Abbosbek Fayzullayev — have joined the ranks of players who will defend the honor of the prestigious Turkish club “Istanbul Basaksehir” from this season. These two names evoke a special sense of pride among football fans in our country.
Although the Turkish Super League has officially started, “Basaksehir” will play its first match in the national championship later due to active participation in European competitions. However, this has not delayed their preparations for the season — the team has already played three important matches in the UEFA Conference League qualifying stage. In the games against Bulgaria’s “Cherno More” and Norway’s “Viking,” as well as the subsequent match, Eldor Shomurodov, on loan from “Roma,” took to the field.
Ironically, Shomurodov’s debut for “Basaksehir” took place in the very tournament where he previously lifted the Conference League trophy as a player of “Roma.” This means that his experience on the European stage will further grow and provide significant support to his new team.
Now, “Basaksehir” fans and Abbosbek Fayzullayev’s personal supporters eagerly await the debut of the 21-year-old rising star. Although Abbos has been showing his skills in training sessions, he has yet to appear in an official match.
Head coach Cagdas Atan gave a special comment on the matter:
— “The new talented player brought from CSKA, Abbosbek Fayzullayev, showed his high potential and active play on the field during last week’s training, leaving a strong impression on our team. However, the paperwork for his transfer has not been fully completed yet. Therefore, he may not be able to participate in the matches against ‘Viking’. If all formalities are resolved positively, we might use him in the return leg.”
Abbosbek’s transfer has also attracted the attention of Russian media. CSKA’s Director of Communications, Kirill Breydo, clarified the situation:
— “CSKA has not yet received the agreed amount from ‘Basaksehir’ for Abbosbek Fayzullayev’s transfer. We are in constant contact with the Turkish club and working to resolve the matter. We expect the payment to arrive this week.”
According to the information, the transfer fee is valued at 7.5 million euros, and as per the agreement, “Basaksehir” must pay the full amount in one transaction. Additionally, depending on Fayzullayev’s performance in matches, a bonus of 2.5 million euros may be awarded.
Undoubtedly, the uniting of these two stars in one team opens up great opportunities not only for “Basaksehir” but also for Uzbek football. Each of them will strive to win the hearts of fans both locally and internationally through their performances on this new stage.
