Akanji rejects AC Milan: prefers to stay in EPL

Manuel Akanji is not interested in moving to AC Milan. According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the Man City defender is rejecting the Rossoneri's current offer. Previously, it was reported that AC Milan had offered €15 million and bonuses for the player, but these terms seemingly weren't considered sufficient for the defender and his club.

The Swiss wants to play for a team participating in the Champions League. Gianluca Di Marzio stated that Akanji prefers to stay in the Premier League - high competition in England, the density of competitions, and his role at City are said to pose a "question mark" on the transfer. In this sense, strengthening the existing position seems more important to the player than changing the club.

AC Milan is considering Juan Foyth of Villarreal and Joe Gomez of Liverpool, who have already been requested, as alternatives. At the end of the transfer window, there may be other options - double-party lease+purchase terms, bonus structure, or player exchange scenarios are likely to return to the agenda.

In short, AC Milan's desire to find a reliable midfielder remains, but the Akanji option is currently closed. The desire to stay in England is strong, while the Italian side has more alternatives - and the intrigue will persist until the window closes.
