Legendary former Manchester United and England national team player Paul Scholes has commented on one of Manchester City's key decisions in the summer transfer window.
As is known, before the closure of the transfer market, Pep Guardiola brought in PSG's main goalkeeper, Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, to strengthen his squad.
Paul Scholes on the transfer:
"I think Guardiola made a very strange choice." I personally value Donnarumma very much; he is undoubtedly a high-level goalkeeper. If there was an opportunity, I would have thought of bringing him to Manchester United. For 40 million pounds, this is a very good deal.
However, in Pep's style, team goalkeepers need to act like defenders or midfielders when needed. Donnarumma, however, doesn't work well with the ball on his feet. In this regard, Luis Enrique has also decided to let him leave PSG.
I personally can't accept Gianluigi Donnarumma as Manchester City's starting goalkeeper," said Scholes.
As a reminder, the 26-year-old Donnarumma played as the starting goalkeeper for PSG last season, making 47 appearances. In 17 of these games, he managed to keep his own goal intact without letting opponents score.
At the same time, Guardiola's decision has sparked heated debates among fans and experts.
