Manchester United face major clear-out as Scholes names five players

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has shared his opinion on which players the club should part ways with in the squad. According to him, the team needs to move on from several players and step into a new phase.

His “questionable list” includes Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, as well as Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount. He believes that all of these players are not delivering consistent performances at a high level.

— “I’m not fully convinced you can rely on Maguire, especially if the team wants to win the Champions League. Shaw doesn’t play much and is not a top-level defender right now. Mount is a good player, but he gets injured too often,” Scholes said.

At the same time, the situation at Manchester United is gradually improving. After Michael Carrick arrived as interim head coach, the team started to regain its form and climbed up to third place in the Premier League.

At present, the club is fighting seriously for a UEFA Champions League spot for next season. The management also plans to resolve the issue of a permanent head coach before the summer transfer window and then carry out a major squad overhaul.
