The match between Turkmenistan and Oman, part of the second round of the CAFA Nations Cup, ended with a score of 1:2. After the match, Oman national team coach Roger De Sa shared his thoughts at a press conference.
He noted that although the win was important, many opportunities created in the game were not converted into goals:
- This is victory. However, I can't say the game was fantastic, because we missed many chances. Now the group winner will be determined in the next match. Today we tested several new players. This was our original goal. "We are preparing for the World Cup qualifiers through these matches," said Roger De Sa.
Answering a question about Central Asian football, the expert acknowledged the physical strength of the opponents:
- All the opponents played very strongly in the first 10-15 minutes. They all have physically strong players. He is also at a high level athletically. "This is a characteristic feature of regional football," he said.
The coach also commented on the mistakes in Oman's defense:
- Yes, there are some problems with the defensive line. We had to change our defenders in the first two games. This rotation also occurred, and in some cases, due to trauma. "But we're working on the mistake," he said.
The coach also touched upon the team's participation in the group stage:
- Getting 7 points in three matches is not a bad result. For example, we had to win the match against Uzbekistan. We created many chances, but the number of goals wasn't enough. If they had told us we would get 7 points before the competition, I would have said it wasn't bad," said De Sa.
He also touched upon the start of the Oman championship and the players' form:
"Many players aren't in their best form right now. But I hope they will return to the clubs to play more, get back in shape, and prepare better for the October qualifiers," the coach said.
Thus, Roger De Sa emphasized that he intends to intensify preparations for important qualifying matches next month with his players.
