Following the match against Uzbekistan in the third round of the CAFA Nations Cup 2025, Kyrgyzstan national team head coach Urmat Abdukaimov shared his thoughts at a press conference. He emphasized that the team made every effort on the field, but in some cases, factors unrelated to the game limited their capabilities.
- I am proud of my players. They played well against an opponent qualifying for the World Cup. But, unfortunately, today we were defeated due to factors beyond our control. "I express my gratitude to all the young men who defended the honor of our country in this competition," said Abdukaimov.
According to the coach, the main turning point in the game was the red card. In his opinion, it cannot be denied that the opponent was stronger, and playing one man less seriously affected the team. - For the past two games, VAR decisions have had a dramatic impact on the result on the field. Referees also make mistakes, but such cases should be minimized as much as possible," the coach added.
In response to a question about the team's inability to create sufficient chances in attack, he emphasized the following: "Before the red card, the opponent had only sent a precise shot to our goal once. We were leaving the pressing. Due to some of our leading players participating in the U23 qualifying tournament, we didn't play with the full squad. At the same time, three of our players made their debut in this match for the first time.
Abdukaimov also commented on the participation of some key players - Erjan Tokotayev and Kojo - in the Uzbekistan championship. He emphasized that the Super League level is significantly higher than the Kyrgyzstan championship, and this will positively impact the national team's development.
The coach emphasized that, based on the team's current situation, he considers the competition an important experience.
