World champion Bastian Schweinsteiger harshly criticized the German national team's players following their 0-2 defeat to Slovakia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The legendary footballer expressed his opinion after the match and did not hide his great disappointment with the team's performance:
- It affected me very badly. But, to tell the truth, I didn't believe in victory for a moment. We couldn't show anything in the square. This was a heavy defeat. We acted very badly. Our passes also hardly worked, and we couldn't pose a threat to the opponent's goal. "If you want to win something, you must show willpower and perseverance on the field," Schweinsteiger said.
He also specifically addressed the reaction of the fans:
- I asked myself: when was the last time I saw a German fan whistle against their team? This situation truly hurt my heart. If you play like that and make it to the World Cup, you'll have to be grateful for that too," he added.
