List of clubs with the most transfer spending announced

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has published a report on the expenses of the world’s biggest clubs in building their current squads. The ranking takes into account not only direct transfer fees but also bonuses, loans, and all types of payments.

Among the most ambitious teams, Chelsea outpaced all rivals. The London club spent €1.314 billion on its squad, securing the top spot. It is followed by Manchester City (€1.128 billion) and Manchester United (€1.071 billion).

Interestingly, compared to last year, transfer spending has risen significantly: the combined outlay of the top ten clubs grew by 15 percent — from €8.44 billion to €9.67 billion. This demonstrates that the European transfer market is heating up even further.
