In the 6th round of the English Premier League, Crystal Palace hosted one of the tournament leaders, Liverpool, on their home ground. The match unexpectedly ended with the victory of the London team — 2:1.
A goal scored by Ismaila Sarr in the 9th minute gave Palace the advantage. However, Liverpool almost completely controlled the game — 72% possession, 20 shots, 691 passes, and 88% accuracy. But these numbers did not affect the result.
Federico Chiesa equalized in the 87th minute and created the impression that Liverpool was returning to the path of victory. However, in the 7th minute of added time, Edouard Nketiah finished an attack with an accurate shot, bringing victory to his team.
With this victory, Crystal Palace climbed to second place in the table. Liverpool, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat in 6 rounds.
