FIFA President Gianni Infantino assessed the club World Cup held in the US this summer as a "successful project" in two aspects - cash flow and organization. He emphasized that the tournament will serve to further expand the economy of club football.
Infantino gave an example: "While the Champions League earned only €40 million in its early years, today this figure has exceeded €4 billion. If the first FIFA Club World Cup brought in €2 billion, this figure could reach €200 billion in 30 years. This is a huge benefit for clubs and the entire football industry," he said.
According to the FIFA head, there was great interest in the tournament: "A total of 2.5 million spectators attended the games in the USA, with an average attendance of around 40,000. Currently, only the Premier League is superior in this indicator. There is high interest on a global scale. This is an important driver for the development of national championships, European competitions, and global tournaments," Infantino added.
According to him, FIFA is working with clubs, leagues, and sponsors to further refine the format and expand geography and marketing. "The goal is to combine sports pride with economic stability, to provide a high-quality performance for fans," he noted.
In conclusion, the debut in the USA was a successful first step: the stadiums were filled, the numbers grew, and communication channels expanded. Now it's time to take quality to another level.
