Kolo Toure: “Working with Guardiola — my dream has come true”

Manchester City’s assistant coach Kolo Toure has expressed his delight at working alongside Pep Guardiola. The 44-year-old specialist joined the “Citizens” coaching staff in July.

The former Ivory Coast national team defender played for City between 2009 and 2013, during which time he helped the club win the Premier League title. Since 2024, Toure had been working as an assistant coach for City’s U18 team.

“In my career, I never had the chance to play under Pep Guardiola, but now I’m working next to him. It’s a huge honor for me. He’s not only a top coach but also a fantastic person. When he speaks to you, he inspires and motivates you,” Toure told the club’s media.

According to him, working with Guardiola is a true school for every young coach:
“I could talk about Pep for hours. His approach, his attention to detail, and his relationship with football stand above everything. Being on the same team with him is the realization of my dream. I hope this collaboration continues for a long time,” the former defender added.

Toure’s new position allows him to experience top-level football from the inside. His growing experience on the coaching staff is expected to help him lead a team independently in the future.

Toure’s words about Guardiola once again prove that the positive environment within City is one of the key secrets to the club’s success.
