The Super League Round 25 match between “Andijon” and “Shurtan” (4:3) was memorable not only for its seven goals but also for its intensity and dramatic turns. After the match, Andijon’s head coach Maksim Shatskikh spoke at a press conference about his team’s performance and the players’ condition.
“I think today’s match was a real celebration for the fans. I always say — we play for them. Seven goals, a penalty, dangerous chances, a lot of fight — everything was there. For a coach, though, such games aren’t easy; your heart races, and your hair turns gray. But if fans go home happy, it means we’ve won,” said Shatskikh.
He also commented on Usmonali Ismonaliyev’s performance:
“I told him beforehand he’d start on the wing, but he could move to the center if needed. He scored twice and made a huge contribution to the victory. That’s the reward for his hard work.”
When asked about Sunnatillo Hamidjonov, Shatskikh said:
“I don’t think he’s under pressure. He lost focus in the opening minutes, but that happens. We’ll talk and analyze things. I’m sure everything will be fine.”
Discussing the defense, Shatskikh was candid:
“After conceding three goals, we can’t say we played perfectly in defense. But I’m not blaming anyone. In our team, everyone attacks and everyone defends. All three goals came from our own mistakes.”
Regarding Abduganiev and Sohibjonov being sent to the U-21 team, he explained:
“This wasn’t a sudden decision. There are reasons. To play in the main squad, you have to earn it. We monitor the young players closely, and those who prove themselves will get a chance.”
He also updated on injured players:
“Islom Mamatkazin has just started individual training, no serious issues. Zoteev has returned to full training and might be on the bench for the October 22 match.”
According to Shatskikh, the team is progressing, and the most important thing is that Andijon fans are enjoying their team’s football.
