The coach emphasized that the game was quite difficult because the Reds played against the opponent's deep defense. In his opinion, the goal in the first minutes and minor injuries on the field have further complicated the situation.
"Playing against a team based on deep defense and long passes is not always easy. If you concede a goal at the beginning of the game, then all plans will change. "If one of your players is injured on the field, it definitely affects," said Slot.
He says: "When they told me to create so many goal opportunities before the game, I believed in a clear victory. But in football, sometimes chances don't turn into goals. We lost, but we had many opportunities."
The coach also acknowledged that the team made mistakes in standard situations:
"We conceded another goal after the set piece. This has been against Crystal Palace before. In modern football, such mistakes are expensive. If a team acts uncertainly in a standard situation, it will be difficult to win."
According to Slot, Liverpool fully controlled the initiative on the field, but they lacked luck in converting chances into goals.
"We had enough chances to score two, maybe three goals. However, there was little precision and coolness in the finish line. Even small mistakes in such debates affect the result," he said.
