Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim shared his thoughts on the team's performance in an interview with journalists following a crucial victory over Liverpool in the English Premier League, BBC Sport reports.
Amorim stated that this victory was the biggest and most significant result of his club career. At the same time, he congratulated the players and fans.
"I think this was my biggest win at Manchester United. Today's result is of great importance to us, but tomorrow it will fall behind. These three points give us confidence and strength. We're struggling in every match, but in the second half, we sometimes lose our game. But the team has spirit and soul - this is the most important thing," - said the coach.
According to Amorim, the team thoroughly analyzed the opponent before the game and planned to achieve victory through standard situations:
"We analyzed the game in depth and realized that standards should be our main weapon in today's match. We fielded experienced players. When we actively acted in pressing, we felt that the opponent would lose the ball. Thanks to this, we achieved victory."
The coach also highlighted the performance of team leader Harry Maguire:
"Maguayr did a great job for the team today. He must be a leader not only on the field, but also in the cloakroom itself. He will set an example for young people with his experience," Amorim said.
Speaking about the mood after the victory, the Portuguese specialist smiled and said:
"When I see my players happy, I'm happy too. But when I heard the music they played in the dressing room, my heart sank - my musical taste is much better than theirs."
Amorim believes this victory over Liverpool could usher in a new era for Manchester United. The coach emphasized that the team is now focused on the next match - the game against Brighton.
Thus, according to Ruben Amorim, this victory at "MU" is important not only in terms of results but also in terms of team spirit and confidence.
