Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes recently clarified interest from Saudi Arabian clubs and the transfer issue in an interview.
The Portuguese footballer confirmed that he had held negotiations with Al-Hilal, but emphasized that the final decision was clear to him.
"Yes, I had conversations with Al Hilal, everyone knows this. There was also interest from Saudi Arabia and other European teams. But my answer didn't change - I will stay at Manchester United, because this club is still part of my dream," he said.
According to Fernandes, the club's management and head coach Ruben Amorim stated that he plays an important role in the project:
"The coach talked to me and said that I was still part of the team's plan. The club expressed the same opinion. If they told me: "Bruno, you are 30 years old, we chose a different path in our future project," I would have made the right decision for my family. But this did not happen. I still feel like a part of United."
He emphasized that the contract proposed by Saudi Arabia was financially very beneficial, but the decision wasn't solely monetary.
"The offer was indeed very useful, I don't deny it. But what's always important to me is my dreams and my legacy in football. "I want to continue my journey here," said the captain.
Bruno also stated that he had spoken with his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo about Saudi Arabia, but did not disclose the content of the conversation:
"We talked about this topic, but I wouldn't say what he said to me, but we discussed it. Everyone's path is different."
Fernandes stated that there were no new negotiations yet, and the agent had not contacted him on this matter:
"No one has spoken to me now. Maybe someone will apply again in the summer, but so far this has not happened. Even if my agent wants to talk to me, it will only happen after the World Cup."
According to him, he still wants to achieve a lot at United: victories, trophies, and upholding the club's honor.
