At a press conference following the OKMK vs. Nasaf (1:1) match in the 26th round of the Super League, Qarshi's head coach, Ro'ziqul Berdiyev, answered journalists' questions. He openly commented on the match, the condition of the field, the fight for the championship, and the team's participation in the AFC Champions League.
According to Berdiyev, today's game could have been technically rich, but due to the condition and conditions of the field, the teams were forced to act with more intense struggle and long passes.
"Both OKMK and we are teams that play combination football. But today the field was in such a state that the ball was more in the air than on the ground. Therefore, the game turned into a struggle. Nevertheless, both teams had chances to win. If we had used our chances better in the second half, the result could have been different," the coach said.
He emphasized that Nasaf's tactical decisions have fully justified themselves under these circumstances. "In the second half, we launched Golban into the attack, because he's very good at fighting long passes. This decision has yielded results. "We didn't train yesterday at the OKMK field - we prepared our players technically, but the circumstances forced us to choose a different path," said Berdiyev.
The most interesting part of the press conference was the coach's words about the championship struggle. "Many people are saying that Neftchi will become champions. We're hearing about this, but at the end of the season, time will tell who the real champion is. And we won't just stand by. We've had an undefeated streak for a long time and are playing well for the championship. If "Neftchi" is the champion, look for heroes outside the field, not on the field. "This is my personal opinion," said Berdiyev.
When asked about the results in the AFC Champions League, the coach noted that the team is learning to fight on two fronts. "Playing in two disciplines at the same time is not easy. This is a school for us. European teams can play at this level because they have twice as strong a squad. We don't have this yet, but we are gaining experience. For example, in the game against "Al-Ahli," some guys had to rest, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to play even 20 minutes today," he said.
Berdiyev also touched upon Nasaf's transfer policy. In his opinion, the club needs to deepen its squad and attract high-budget players to be competitive at the international level. "If we want to perform well in big competitions, there must be strong players in every position. This requires funds and the right strategy," the coach said.
