
Yesterday's competitions of the III Asian Youth Games, held in the capital of Bahrain, Manama, became a true triumph for Uzbek athletes. On October 28, representatives of our national team won a total of 13 medals - 5 gold and 8 bronze.
The most striking victories of the day were recorded in weightlifting, freestyle wrestling, and cycling. In cycling, Gulhayo Sattorova surpassed all her rivals in the group race and presented the Uzbekistan delegation with another gold medal.
In the weightlifting competition, Marjona Abdumutalova created a real sensation. He lifted 131 kg in the snatch and 111 kg in the clean and jerk, becoming a two-time gold medalist and breaking the competition record.
The freestyle wrestling competitions also ended successfully for young men and women from Uzbekistan. Mukhlisa Masharipova (-40 kg) defeated her Japanese opponent in the final and ascended to the championship podium. Also, Ulugbek Rashidov (-51 kg) defeated the representative of Iran and won the Asian Youth Championship.
On the same day, our compatriots won a number of bronze medals. In freestyle wrestling, Mirjalol Mukammilov (-45 kg), Mehribona Kudaynazarova (-46 kg), Fakhriddin Nasriddinov (-60 kg), and Farrukhbek Jumanazarov (-71 kg) won bronze medals.
Muhammadismoil Rahmonov, competing in the 200-meter breaststroke, also took third place on the podium. In weightlifting, Sarvinoz Kupaysinova (-63 kg), and in boxing, Ulbosin Jalgasbayeva (-66 kg) and Nazokat Mardonova (-50 kg) won bronze medals.
With these results, young athletes from Uzbekistan once again demonstrated their potential at the Asian Games in Bahrain. Currently, our national team is among the active participants in the overall standings and ranks among the top ten in terms of the total number of medals.
According to the NOC, in the following days of the competitions, Uzbek athletes are preparing for the finals in a number of disciplines - boxing, track and field, and gymnastics.
These achievements of our young athletes are not only the result of their hard work, but also a vivid confirmation of the potential of the new generation in the sports sphere of our country. Time will tell how many more times the flag of our country will be raised under the sky of Bahrain.
