Serious changes are beginning at English champions Liverpool. After losses and poor performances in recent weeks, head coach Arne Slot decided to restructure the team. This process at the Merseyside club could affect the fate of many players.
One of the biggest changes is linked to Italian striker Federico Chiesa. The team plans to officially get rid of him in the coming week. The decision by Arne Slot revealed that the club is ready to give up Keza.
Keza came to Liverpool from Juventus in the summer of 2024 with high hopes. At the time, fans expected him to give the team new strength, dynamism, and creativity in the attack. But life did not live up to these hopes.
In his debut season, the footballer was unable to fully show himself - having played a total of 14 times in all competitions, he did not show impressive results. His play was often disproportionate, unable to adapt to the team system, and not fully matched the fast pressing style Slot was using.
The situation hasn't improved this season either. Federico has only appeared in 9 matches so far, accumulating a total of 245 minutes of playing time. He scored two goals and provided three assists, but this figure is considered too low for a team of Liverpool's caliber.
Speaking about Chiesa's performance at the Arne Slot press conference, "He's a good player, but he doesn't fit our current tactical philosophy. We need to find the right solution for the benefit of the team."
Following this decision, Keza's agents began negotiations with other clubs. There is reported interest from Italian and Spanish clubs. The player himself expressed his readiness to move to another team in January 2026 to gain regular playing time.
Meanwhile, if the winter transfer doesn't materialize, Keza plans to try to change clubs again in the summer. Liverpool, however, plans to replace him with a young, active, and systematic striker if he leaves.
Experts believe that Slot's decisions mark the beginning of a new era for the club. He aimed to restructure the team, improve the tactical balance, and, based on a clear plan, bring Liverpool back to European prominence.
For Keza, this decision could be a new beginning. He will have the opportunity to showcase his "New Me" in another championship. This is expected to open a new page for both Liverpool and Keza.
