The owner of Crystal Palace, Steve Parish, gave an explanation as to why the team captain Marc Guehi was unable to move to Liverpool before the close of the summer transfer window. The defender was ready to join the Merseyside club, but the London club refused the transfer because they could not find a proper replacement for their star.
"Guehi took the situation well. He received an offer from a great club like Liverpool.
Of course, Marc wanted to move there, but after we told him we would not let him go, he was ready to stay. It was important for us to keep him, because in the Premier League's tough competition, sometimes only five wins separate a brilliant season from survival.
That is why we decided not to sell our key player," Parish said in an interview with the Transfer Sector website. It is reported that next summer Marc Guehi will leave Crystal Palace as a free agent, as he is not planning to extend his current contract.
