In the first round of the group stage of the U-17 World Cup, the Paraguay youth national team lost to Uzbekistan with a score of 1:2. Following the match, the team's head coach, Argentinian specialist Mariano Uglessic, shared his thoughts with the press.
"To be honest, I can't say that I'm happy with this game. This was our first match at the World Cup, and we didn't achieve the expected result. We need to analyze many aspects of the game - especially in the first half, the team couldn't find its rhythm," Uglessich said.
The coach noted that the team faced pressure from the opponents from the very beginning of the game:
"In the first half, our attacking movements were inaccurate, our passes were inaccurate, and we couldn't fully combine tactically. In the second half, we became a little more active, increased pressure, and even had opportunities to equalize, but that wasn't enough."
Uglessich specifically described the Uzbekistan national team:
"We played against a strong opponent. The Uzbekistan youth team is distinguished by its structure, discipline, and playing style. They performed their planned task excellently, which explains why they recently became champions at the Asian Cup. Undoubtedly, they are a tactically well-prepared team."
The Argentinian specialist expressed confidence in his players and expressed hope that the quality of the game would improve in the upcoming matches:
"We still have two more matches ahead. The current defeat was an important lesson for us. Our opponents are strong, but we can also speak our minds at the World Cup. The important thing now is to analyze the mistakes and correct them."
