Spain national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has commented on the exclusion of Catalonia's "Barcelona" winger Lamine Yamal from the national team's squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches. "I am astonished; such a situation has never happened throughout my entire career.

I do not consider this situation normal. I had not received any information, and when I learned about this news, I was surprised," the coach said in statements shared by Fabrizio Romano on social media.

Earlier, it was announced that the 18-year-old player would not be able to participate in the matches due to medical recommendations. Yamal is still suffering from discomfort related to issues in the groin area.
