
Another day concluded at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and this day was also remembered by our country's athletes with high results. Our compatriots finished the fifth day of the competition with 5 gold and 5 bronze medals, achieving great success in the overall standings.
According to the NOC press service, on November 12, Uzbek athletes demonstrated their skills and strength in a number of disciplines and managed to significantly increase the number of gold medals.
Among those who have lived up to expectations, the world weightlifting champion Akbar Juraev deserves special recognition. He outperformed his competitors in all three categories in the -110 kg weight category:
- 1st place in the snatch;
- 1st place in clean and jerk;
- absolute victory in both matches overall.
Thus, Akbar won three gold medals in one day, bringing joy not only to the national team but to all our people.
There are also good news about swimming. Ilya Sibirsev won gold in the 400-meter freestyle, surpassing all his competitors. Also, Eldor Usmanov won a worthy victory in the 100-meter butterfly.
Bronze medals were also added to the team's tally. Tursunoy Jabborova, competing in the women's +86 kg weight category, won bronze medals in three disciplines - snatch, clean and jerk, and two events. Weightlifter Sharofiddin Amriddinov also took third place in the snatch.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team was also awarded bronze.
Following these results, Uzbekistan is in second place in the overall team standings with 15 gold, 15 silver, and 12 bronze medals. The Turkish delegation holds the lead in the competition - they have 51 gold, 24 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
The competition continues, and new victories are expected from our compatriots. Undoubtedly, the trust and support of our people give our athletes even more strength and inspiration.
