The UFC world is on the threshold of another big intrigue. Former lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, known for his own fights and pressure, recently revealed his new goal. According to him, if he defeats Jack Della Maddalena in the big fight at UFC 322 on November 16, he intends to have his next fight against one of the Legends of the Octagon - Kamaru Osman.
Makhachev believes Usman is still among the high-ranked opponents. "I think Kamar and Usman are after Jack. He is one of the fighters who defended the belt the most in the welterweight division. It is still in very good condition," Makhachev said in his statement.
Usman is one of the most respected champions in UFC history. The Nigerian Mechigi, who won the welterweight title in March 2019, proved their strength by successfully defending the belt five times. In subsequent years, he lost battles against Leon Edwards and Hamzat Chimaev. Nevertheless, in his next performance, Joaquin defeated Buckley, signaling a return to the top tier.
Currently, all attention is focused on the UFC-322 tournament. The main fight between Makhachev and Maddalena will be the decisive clash for the welterweight title tariff. Australian Maddalena is currently recognized as one of the most dangerous fighters in the developing world.
Regardless of who wins the fight between them, Makhachev's next plan points to another huge super fight for UFC fans. The clash with an experienced opponent like Usman will undoubtedly become one of the most anticipated duels in the history of the Octagon.
Makhachev must first defeat Maddalena. But if the plans come true, the UFC may witness another big fight.
