The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has contacted Interpol regarding online abuses identified on social media. These incidents were detected through FIFA's Social Media Protection Service (SMPS).
Throughout 2025, SMPS has identified more than 30,000 instances of abusive behavior. "Our message is clear: there is no place for violence in our game.
FIFA will continue to work with member associations, confederations, and law enforcement agencies to hold offenders accountable," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a statement released by the organization's press service. Additionally, 11 cases have been forwarded to law enforcement authorities in Argentina, Brazil, France, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Since the launch of SMPS, over 65,000 instances of abuse have been recorded. Infantino emphasized that FIFA itself will take measures against offenders, including implementing sanctions such as banning attendance at football games.
