Gattuso: The Problem Is Not with Us but with Chiesa

Italy national team head coach Gennaro Gattuso responded to a question about Liverpool player Federico Chiesa’s return to the national team. Earlier, Chiesa had declined call-ups to the national team.

"You know Chiesa’s issue. You always ask the same question.

I invite Chiesa for every training camp, and I always talk to him. The issue is not with Gattuso or my staff – the issue is with Chiesa, not with us.

You know this very well. You keep asking the same question, and I keep giving the same answer each time," Gattuso said in an interview with Sky Sport.

In the semi-finals of the playoff matches for qualification to the World Cup, the Italy national team will host Northern Ireland. If "Squadra Azzurra" secures victory, they will face the winner of the match between Wales and Bosnia and Herzegovina away.
