Uzbek midfielder Alisher Mirzayev, who plays for Visakha, one of Cambodia's leading teams, has concluded his five-year career in the country with a new turning point. It was officially recognized that he permanently lived in Cambodia and strengthened his position in the local football system - the footballer accepted the country's citizenship.
Alisher Mirzaev joined "Visakha" in 2020 and has since become one of the team's leaders. Born in Karakalpakstan and trained in the Uzbek football school, the midfielder has adapted well to the Cambodian championship over the years and has captured the attention of local fans.
His experience with our national teams is not without reason. Mirzayev, who once played 6 times for the U-16 and U-20 national teams of Uzbekistan, was seen from a young age as a player with great potential. Now his future on the international stage is becoming even more interesting.
However, there has been no official announcement yet about his potential call-up to the Cambodian national team for the March FIFA international break. The national team's coaching staff is monitoring Mirzayev's performances in the local championship, but a decision has not yet been made.
It's worth noting that the player's team, Visakha, currently sits in 7th place in the league table with 12 points. Mirzayev's acquisition of citizenship has also created a positive atmosphere at the club - this decision will also be useful in the team's future foreign player limit according to local rules.
For Mirzaev, this is a new life stage, a door to new opportunities. Recognizing the value of his many years of work in Cambodia, becoming a full-fledged participant in local football, and possibly playing for the country's national team - these are the new goals he faces.
