The convincing victory of the Uzbekistan national team in the semi-final of the Al Ain Cup against Egypt with a score of 2:0 attracted the attention of not only local fans, but also the Egyptian sports community. In Egypt, one of the most influential countries in football on the African continent, the team and coaching staff faced sharp criticism after this defeat.
Former Egyptian footballer Ahmed Bilal did not hide his passionate thoughts in his post-match appearance. He emphasized that Uzbekistan gave Egypt a real football lesson on the field, and the score could have been even bigger.
"Uzbekistan has shown us the true meaning of football. They are a very disciplined team. He could have even scored a few more goals in other situations," Bilol said.
In his opinion, despite the fact that Egypt entered the field with the main squad, the balance of power did not meet expectations:
"We thought this team wasn't a serious competitor in football, one that couldn't be found even on a map. But they completely outran us. Uzbekistan only gave us a football lesson," the former striker admitted.
Such a convincing performance of the Uzbekistan national team once again demonstrated the team's preparedness, tactical stability, and the rapid growth of the younger generation. Egyptian media, however, emphasize that this defeat is a serious signal for the national team.
