FIFA has introduced a new procedure to make the 2026 World Cup more spectacular, intriguing, and fan-viewed. According to this system, if the four strongest national teams in the world rankings advance to the playoffs, their path is structured in such a way that these giants do not face each other until the semi-finals.
That is, the central goal in the selection of opponents is to preserve major clashes between favorites in the final stage, to roughly plan the "super duels" that fans eagerly await. This, in turn, further enhances both the dramatic spirit of the championship and the television audience.
According to the current FIFA rankings, Spain, Argentina, France, and England are forming the top four.
