Popov Suggests Loan Deal as Best Solution for Safonov


Former football player Aleksey Popov has shared his thoughts on the future of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. The Russian goalkeeper has not appeared in a single game so far this season.

The Parisians continue to regard Lucas Chevalier as their main goalkeeper. "Perhaps he needs to move to another club on loan because he is not being given a chance here.

PSG has rotated several goalkeepers, but ultimately, Safonov is the one suffering from the situation. I don’t know the reason behind this," Popov told Legalbet in an interview.

Matvey Safonov joined the French club from Krasnodar in the summer of 2024. He has played in 17 matches for PSG, managing to keep a clean sheet in 7 of them.
