The Governor of Andijan Region, Shuhratbek Abdurakhmonov, has clearly outlined new goals and tasks for the football club “Andijon” in a meeting with the team’s head coach, Samvel Babayan. According to the regional leader, the team must now compete for top positions in the Super League.
Abdurakhmonov stated that there are plans to turn 2026 into a genuine “year of football” in Andijan. To achieve this, the team must secure at least a place among the medalists—more precisely, they are required to finish in at least third place. If the potential is fully realized, striving for a championship title is also set as an additional goal.
“God willing, together we will turn 2026 into a football celebration for Andijan. I have assigned Babayan the task of securing at least third place. If things go even better—why shouldn’t we aim for the championship? With the necessary support, I am always ready to assist,” said the governor.
This announcement has sparked significant optimism among the team’s supporters. Under Babayan’s leadership, the team is strengthening its roster for the new season and aiming to establish consistency in its playing style. For the upcoming season, the objectives are even greater—the competition will be fierce, but “Andijon” is equally ambitious in its aspirations.
