Safonov Could Make Champions League Debut


Russia's national team goalkeeper Matvey Safonov may make his UEFA Champions League group stage debut this season. This was reported by *Le Parisien*.

According to the source, Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) main goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, has not fully recovered from his injury, and it is doubtful he will play in the upcoming match against Athletic Bilbao. As a result, Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov is expected to feature in PSG's starting lineup.

The match between Athletic Bilbao and PSG will take place tomorrow, December 10, at the stadium in Bilbao. Last weekend, Safonov made his season debut for PSG in the 2025/2026 campaign during a match against Rennes, where his team secured a 5–0 victory.
