Former "Real Madrid" forward Gareth Bale shared his thoughts on why he never won the Ballon d'Or award. According to Bale, the award requires not only outstanding performance on the pitch but also a strong reputation in the media field.
"I think the Ballon d'Or is not only about the game. You also need to have an image in the world of media.
I would have liked it to be different, but that's the reality. I know that in some years I was among the best in the world, but I didn’t need external recognition.
I never strived for the Ballon d'Or," Bale said in an interview with GQ. It should be noted that Gareth Bale ended his football career at the beginning of 2023.
His last club was the "Los Angeles" team in the United States. Additionally, he previously played for "Southampton," "Tottenham," and "Real Madrid" clubs.
