Former goalkeeper Nikolay Zabolotniy shared his thoughts on the situation of Russia national team goalkeeper Matvey Safonov at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). According to Zabolotniy, the current situation appears promising and full of potential for Safonov.
He noted that the 26-year-old goalkeeper is not yet the primary goalkeeper for the Parisian club's main squad but does not consider this an unfair treatment. In his view, Safonov currently has a real opportunity to prove himself and fully integrate into the competition.
"Yes, he is not the first-choice goalkeeper for now, but perhaps his moment has come. Enough time has passed since the transfer, and the adaptation process is complete.
I believe Safonov is in a good position right now: he has fully adjusted to the team and is fighting for a spot in the main lineup," Zabolotniy was quoted as saying by "Sovetskiy Sport." This season, Safonov has played in three matches for PSG, conceding two goals.
