Shalimov: Safonov Saving Four out of Five Penalties Is a Major Event

Russian coach Igor Shalimov evaluated PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov’s performance in the match against Flamengo. According to Shalimov, Safonov likely overcame pain to play until the end of the penalty shootout.

The expert also noted that PSG head coach Luis Enrique’s comments about "resting" and "karma" could be interpreted in two ways. In Shalimov's opinion, such remarks appear controversial, especially when the Russian goalkeeper is in excellent sporting form.

"Enrique could have shown support for Safonov. His talk about some sort of karma and saying Matvey needs rest is strange.

Saving four out of five penalties is a very serious achievement," Shalimov said on "Match TV". Safonov has appeared in four games this season, conceding three goals.
