Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has expressed sharp and open criticism regarding the exclusion of his team's winger, Raphinha, from FIFA's Team of the Year. The German specialist considers this decision to be completely incomprehensible and even far from justice.
According to Flick, he generally does not place much importance on symbolic teams and individual lists. However, in this particular case, he admitted he was genuinely stunned. The coach believes that Raphinha’s exclusion from such a list defies the logic of football.
— This decision is beyond my understanding. To be honest, FIFA’s selection seems ridiculous to me. Raphinha was one of our key players last season. His influence, especially in the Champions League, was unparalleled, — said Flick.
The coach also highlighted specific statistics. According to him, Raphinha was not only limited to scoring goals but also played a significant role in the team’s overall gameplay. In particular, during the main stages of the UEFA Champions League, he provided 22 goal assists and became one of Barcelona's main attacking weapons.
— In terms of goals, assists, and impact on the game, Raphinha’s contribution to the team was immense. This decision is a clear injustice against him. After such a season, he absolutely deserved to be among the world's best eleven players, — Flick added.
Catalan fans also agree with the coach’s opinion. They believe that Raphinha demonstrated himself last season as not only one of the most consistent and effective wingers in the club but also on a European scale.
