Former Russian national team footballer Aleksandr Mostovoy commented on Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's injury during the match against Flamengo. Mostovoy expressed skepticism about reports claiming that Safonov's hand was broken.
He stated that in such injuries, the situation becomes clear immediately: if a bone is broken, the goalkeeper would not be able to continue the match. The former footballer suggested that the injury might not be severe and could be something minor, such as a fracture or another mild issue.
«Perhaps his hand is not broken; it could be more of a crack or something similar. If someone breaks their hand, they cannot play.
It seems like this is not a serious case,» Mostovoy's words were quoted by the publication «Chempionat».
It should be noted that the match ended in a 1-1 draw, with PSG prevailing 2-1 in the penalty shootout.
