Former Fulham forward Pavel Pogrebnyak shared his opinion on the competition between Paris Saint-Germain’s Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier. According to Pogrebnyak, Safonov significantly increased his chances of becoming PSG's first-choice goalkeeper after his triumph in the penalty shootout but sustained an injury soon afterward.
"Chevalier was out of action — Safonov replaced him very well and secured the number one spot. Now, however, the situation is reversed.
I wouldn’t say with absolute certainty that either Safonov or Chevalier is PSG’s first-choice goalkeeper at the moment,” Pogrebnyak’s comments were quoted by “Chempionat.”
This season, Chevalier has played 20 matches across all competitions, conceded 22 goals, and kept eight clean sheets.
Meanwhile, Safonov has appeared in four matches, conceded three goals, and recorded two clean sheets. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
