Ponomaryov says there is no talk of moving the World Cup from the US

Former USSR national team footballer Vladimir Ponomaryov was skeptical about possible discussions on moving the 2026 World Cup matches from the United States to another country amid the international situation. This was reported by euro-football.ru.reports.
In his view, such a scenario is almost impossible. Ponomaryov stressed that FIFA’s leadership would not consider this option at all and that the tournament will be held in the territories of the previously approved hosts.
"FIFA will not move World Cup matches from the United States to another place. Infantino has a good relationship with Trump. This issue won’t even make the agenda. Unfortunately, no one will even mention not holding it in the US or moving the games elsewhere," Ponomaryov said. His words were quoted by Rusfootball.info.
As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19. The tournament matches will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
