Two Uzbek grandmasters received special invitations to the prestigious tournament

The Grand Chess Tour, which takes place throughout the year in different cities around the world and brings together the strongest chess players on one stage, is once again in the spotlight. This series is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the world chess calendar, where each ticket has a separate value. The Grand Chess Tour's official website has also confirmed the announcement of wildcard holders for 2026.
The concept of "wild card" is very important here. That is, this is not a simple selection, but a ticket issued by the tournament organizers based on a special offer. Receiving such an offer means the chess player's prestige, current form, and interesting figure for the tournament. In short, a wild card is not just participation, but a sign of trust.
Among the special bidders for the preliminary stages of the 2026 Grand Chess Tour are two Uzbek grandmasters. Javokhir Sindarov received a wild card for the Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland tournament, which will be held in Poland from May 3-10. At this stage, he competes alongside such famous chess players as Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Hans Niemann, Vladimir Fedoseev, and Radosław Voytashek.
Another encouraging aspect is that Nodirbek Abdusattorov was also recognized as one of the wild card holders of the Grand Chess Tour. She will compete in SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz Croatia, which will be held in Croatia from June 29 to July 6. There he is accompanied by Ivan Sharich and Bogdan-Daniel Deak.
Bogdan-Daniel Deak was also selected as a wild card for the Superbet Chess Classic Romania tournament, which will take place from 12 to 24 May. So, the composition of special proposals announced for the first three major stages has already generated great interest.

In short, the participation of two Uzbek grandmasters in an elite tournament, such as the Grand Chess Tour, through a wild card is not a simple news. This is a vivid sign that the Uzbek chess school is being taken even more seriously on the international stage. For Nodirbek and Javohir, this is not only a great opportunity, but also another equal battlefield with the world's strongest minds.
