Ukraine lost, Sweden confidently advanced to the final

In Europe, the fight for qualification for the 2026 World Cup is becoming increasingly intense and uncompromising. The semi-final matches of the qualifying playoffs have concluded, and some teams have qualified for the decisive final. Some were forced to postpone their dreams until future competitions.

One such match took place between the Ukrainian and Swedish national teams. Although the hosts aimed to achieve a positive result in front of their fans, they suffered a painful defeat at the end of the match.

The debate started very quickly. In the 6th minute, Gekeresh opened the scoring with a precise shot, putting the visitors ahead. This goal disrupted the Ukrainian team's plans and put them under early pressure.

Sweden maintained dominance in the second half. In the 51st minute, Gekeresh again scored his second goal, consolidating his team's dominance. Shortly after, using a penalty in the 72nd minute, he scored a hat-trick and almost decided the fate of the game.

The Ukrainian team became more active in the final minutes. A goal by Ponomarenko in the 90th minute reduced the deficit, but it was too late for a comeback.

Experts believe the Swedish team played disciplinedly and effectively throughout the match. Ukraine, however, failed to capitalize on the opportunities and made mistakes in defense.
