Lamine Yamal makes La Liga history with a record

Barcelona’s young and talented forward Lamine Yamal started in the line-up in the 31st round of the Spanish league match against “Espanyol” and has crossed another important milestone.

According to Opta statistics, this match became the Spanish footballer’s 100th appearance in La Liga. Thus, Yamal, at the age of 18 years and 272 days, became the youngest player in the history of the Spanish championship to reach 100 matches.

The previous record belonged to former Real Madrid forward Raúl González, who reached his 100th La Liga appearance at the age of 19 years and 284 days. Yamal, however, significantly broke this mark earlier and set a new standard.

Lamine Yamal is a product of Barcelona’s academy and has a contract with the club that runs until 30 June 2031. This shows that the club sees him as a long-term project.

In the current season, the young forward has played 42 matches in all competitions, scoring 21 goals and providing 16 assists. His consistent form is becoming a major source of strength for Barcelona.
