Guardiola explains how his team defeated Chelsea

In the central match of the 32nd round of the English Premier League held in London, Manchester City achieved a crucial victory. Playing as guests, the Citizens defeated Chelsea 3-0, further intensifying the race for the championship.

Following this victory, head coach Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts on the game. He stated that the team played much better in the second half, while the first half was not bad, although the plan was not fully executed.

The coach also touched upon the attacks via the wings. In his opinion, more dangerous situations were created on the left wing, whereas efficiency on the right wing was insufficient. At the same time, he emphasized that Jeremy Doku is a strong attacker on the right wing as well.

Guardiola specifically mentioned young midfielder Rayan Cherki. According to him, the player dropped too deep in some situations, even operating near the goalkeeper's area. The coach noted that such talent should be used more effectively in the final third of the attack, closer to the forwards and wingers.

Additionally, he reminded that the player is young and this is his first season in the EPL. He noted that while Cherki has already demonstrated his talent, he strives to become even stronger in the future.

It was also mentioned that not participating in the Champions League has made the team more daring. According to Guardiola, they have played against high-level opponents in the last three games, which is positively impacting their preparation.

"Even if we weren't always ideal, we acted confidently and created dangerous situations for ourselves," he said.

Currently, Manchester City is in 2nd place with 64 points. With a few games in hand, the team trails leaders Arsenal by 6 points.

The battle for the championship is only now entering its most intense phase.
