Liverpool head coach Arne Slot commented on the team’s summer transfer plans, noting that the club faces difficult but necessary decisions.
According to him, in order to bring in new players, the club will first have to part ways with some footballers. In other words, the team is forced to balance its financial and sporting plans.
“We have to sell first, only then can we buy. We are also losing some players for free. This summer will be a big challenge for us, but the club has already proven that this model works.
As I have said many times, the future looks positive, especially if after the departure of strong players this summer we are able to bring in new ones.
We are currently in a transition period. Every club has such cycles — strong periods end and a new phase begins. Many players who have contributed a lot to the team have already left or are close to leaving.
Unfortunately, this is also happening through free transfers. With Mo, meaning Mohamed Salah, the same could happen, with Robbo, meaning Andrew Robertson, a similar situation may occur, and with Trent it has already happened. As you know, the club needs to recover funds in order to spend again.
Last season was also a challenge — to bring in five or six new players, we had to sell 10–11 footballers,” Slot said.
