Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts ahead of the decisive clash against Arsenal in the 33rd round of the English Premier League. The experienced specialist emphasized how important this match is for the team.
The Spanish coach stated that the team is currently in good shape and fully prepared for the encounter. In his view, the gap in points is significant — six points is not small, but there is still an opportunity to close this advantage.
“We are in good condition and ready for the game. Six points is a serious difference, but it can be overcome. Now everything depends on our attitude, our mood on the pitch, and our ambition. The team will be ready, and our fans will support us from the stands as always,” Guardiola noted.
He also mentioned that to defeat a strong and in-form opponent like Arsenal, the team must deliver a high-level performance with almost no mistakes. According to the coach, maximum concentration and discipline in every episode are of decisive importance.
Guardiola recalled the second half of the League Cup final at Wembley as an example. He stated that if City can maintain that level of play for the entire 95 minutes, the chances of victory over the opponent will be much higher.
“If we act against Arsenal just like we did in that second half, but throughout the entire game, and they cannot keep up with that tempo, we can achieve victory. Of course, it's hard to predict everything in football. But in such a case, we will be much closer to winning. That is our main goal,” the coach added.
It is worth noting that this clash could be decisive in the title race. Therefore, both teams are expected to take the field playing only for the win.
