Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has shared his reaction to the dismissal of Liam Rosenor at Chelsea. On Wednesday, the London club officially announced that it had terminated its partnership with the English specialist, who had been leading the team since January.
The London-based side has faced a difficult run of results recently—the team suffered defeats in 7 of their last 8 matches, which served as one of the primary factors accelerating the management's decision.
Guardiola described the situation as unfortunate and expressed his confidence that Rosenor is a coach capable of working at a high level. In his view, such decisions are not always easy to make.
"It’s very sad. I believe he is capable of coaching at a high level," Guardiola said.
The Spanish specialist also noted that he feels fortunate. Reflecting on his tenure at Manchester City, he stated that choosing the club was the right decision.
"Every time a situation like this happens, I think about how lucky I am—to have been destined to work at 'City'," Guardiola said.
According to Guardiola, during his 10-year career at City, he has had the opportunity to work with a solid structure, reliable management, and a professional sporting department. This, in turn, has ensured the team's sustained success.
"Ten years ago, I chose the right club: it has a great structure, management, and sporting department. Remarkable stability," Guardiola noted.
He specifically highlighted the atmosphere of trust and cooperation within the team, calling himself a very lucky person. At the same time, he added that the decision made by Chelsea does not directly concern him.
"The trust in the people I work with is incredible. I am very lucky. Chelsea's decision has nothing to do with me," City Xtra quotes the Spanish coach as saying.
